About- Solutions For Good

Technology plays a significant role in impacting lives and bringing about sustainable change. One of the challenges facing non-profits in India is the ability to develop tech based solutions in order to scale their operations and impact. Vodafone India Foundation, along with NASSCOM Foundation, will seek to address this challenge by building technology solutions for select Not-for-Profit organisations in India.

The Solutions for Good initiative is in response to the challenges faced by several organisations that are unable create a transformational impact due to the lack of the skills and resources to build on their technology solutions.

‘Solutions for Good’ (S4G) is an initiative by Vodafone India Foundation in partnership with NASSCOM Foundation to build social development solutions for Not-for-Profit organisations by providing technology support to improve operational efficiency of a flagship initiative/program which can further lead to better & deeper impact on beneficiaries.

The Program will empower NPO’s with a technology solution which can be helpful for them in their day to day program management. It can be in various sectors like Health, Education, Empowerment, Child Trafficking, Government Services, Agriculture etc.

The key components for the measure of Solutions For Good will be Mobility and can have any of the below mentioned interfaces.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Indian registered NPO’s who have been registered on or before 30 June 2013 (three years from the announcement of awards).
  • The proposed solution/concept should be based on mobile platform or shall leverage mobile-based technologies such SMS, IVR, USSD, and mobile apps.
  • The proposed solution/concept should have max 6-8 months of development or delivery cycle.
  • Known needs assessments, formal or otherwise, any relevant statistics or literature that supports the need are provided along as a part of supporting documents with the application.
  • A list of project personnel, briefly describing their time commitments for this project, roles in this project and applicable experience to their project responsibilities is provided and supports the proposed project. (Resumes may be requested during consideration of the application
  • There are clear indications that the host organisation supports the project: commitment from supervisors, staff time, resources, and etc. A letters of commitment may be requested from the host organisation.
  • Organisation can provide evidence that the team has the ability to scale the product if it succeeds in pilot testing, including attracting outside resources such as financial and human capital, if needed.
  • The NPO shall be capable of demonstrating the success, scalability and sustainability of their project (through documentations – success stories etc).


  • Who can apply for Solution for Good (S4G) Program?

    Depending on the Category, NGO's/ NFP's Entities can apply for the Program. For detailed information on eligibility criteria please refer the section under the head "Eligibility Criteria"

  • What are the categories under Solution For Good (S4G) Program?

    There are various sub categories under NPO segment - Health, Education, Agriculture & Environment, Women Empowerment, Awareness, Child Trafficking and others.

  • Is the funding grant available for building Technology Solution by NPO?

    No, there is no grant available. We will work in collaboration with the NGO to identify the need and assist in designing the technology solution in order to build scale and capacity.

  • Is there a time frame within which the selected NGO’s defined technological need has to be complete?

    Yes, we will only select organisations with projects that can be completed within 6-8 months.

  • Is it mandatory to submit a project concept note?

    Yes, this will help us work with you to identify your need.

  • Do I own the intellectual property of my idea/concept/project?

    Yes, the applicant owns the rights to data and inventions resulting and we will only helping them with building a technology solution.

  • Can the requirement modified once selected?

    Yes, there can be some enhancement which can be delivered depending on the scope of work as well as feasibility.
